TEMARI fair features unique array of gifts
The 33rd TEMARI Trash & Treasure Fundraiser Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii’s Manoa Grand Ballroom, fifth floor.
Artists will be selling one-of-a-kind and limited-edition creations, while nonprofit organizations are invited to join in the fundraiser. Bamboo Ridge Press, Hawaii Potters Guild, Hui o Laulima, the Autism Society and the Pacific Asian Affairs Council will offer unusual holiday gifts and white-elephant collectibles.
The Potters Guild will demonstrate the art of hand building with clay, and Hui o Laulima, a 45-year-old organization for Okinawan women, will sell cookbooks and present a hands-on weaving workshop for nuno zori, rag slippers, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be a nominal supply fee.
Free drawings of "Lucky Gifts" donated by the artists will be held throughout the event. Admission is free. Spend $10 in the JCCH Gift Shop to receive free parking.

Makeup pro to offer pair of seminars
Makeup artist Roque Cozzette will present beauty seminars at 9 a.m. Sunday and Monday at the Hawai’i Fashion Incubator Coop at Ward Warehouse as part of Hawai’i Fashion Month.
The topic of Sunday’s event is bridal makeup techniques, covering everything from brides’ expectations and emotions to product selection, light and contour techniques, airbrush versus traditional makeup, and climate.
Monday’s workshop covers fashion makeup techniques, with a guide to creating makeup looks for fashion shows and tailoring beauty looks for couture and ready-to-wear fashion.
Cozzette has worked alongside legendary makeup artist Pat McGrath, whose clientele includes top names in fashion such as Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Dior, Gucci, Prada and Louis Vuitton.
The cost for one session is $349; for both, it’s $598.
Find local artist’s work on Maui Jims
Freaky Tiki, a local eyewear boutique at Ala Moana Center, has introduced Maui Jim’s limited-edition line of Italian-made sunglasses featuring custom artwork by Maui artist Charlie Lyon.
The You Move Me collection features Lyon’s colorful interpretations of Hawaii flora and fauna, transferred on fine Italian silk that is incorporated into the luxury eyewear framing Maui Jim’s PolarizedPlus2 lenses designed to cut UV rays and glare.
The glasses run about $499.
Give food, get free beauty treatment
Remington College’s Honolulu campus is hosting a November "Cuts for Cause" food drive to help feed the hungry during the holidays.
Throughout November anyone who brings in a can of food or other nonperishable food donation gets a free haircut, manicure or pedicure provided by students and instructors at the Paul Brown Institute at Remington College.
Service hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays except Wednesdays, when hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
