Man dies crashing into bus
A 43-year-old Waipahu man died Wednesday after his pickup truck rear-ended a city bus on Farrington Highway in Ko Olina.
The victim died at the scene at about 12:24 p.m., according to city Emergency Medical Services.
Police said the bus was traveling toward Waianae when it stopped to pick up a passenger and was struck from behind.
Police said a boy, a passenger on the bus, suffered minor injuries. He was treated at the scene, but was not taken to a hospital.
Police closed the Waianae-bound lanes of Farrington Highway from 1 to 4 p.m. as Traffic Division officers investigated the crash.
The man’s death was the 52nd traffic fatality this year, compared with 49 at the same time last year.
City IDs body found in ocean
The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 72-year-old man whose body was found in the ocean off Nimitz Highway last week as Ralph Allen.
Police have classified the case as an unattended death, pending the outcome of further tests, which could take up to eight weeks.
Allen’s body was recovered by harbor police after it was found floating in the ocean Oct. 23 off Nimitz Highway, police said.
