    Vivien Stackpole, left, president of the Friends of East-West Center, was joined by University of Hawaii President David Lassner in congratulating Sumi Makey, 2014 recipient of the group’s Friend for Life Award, Wednesday at the Hale­ku­lani. Makey was recognized for “her significant lifetime distinguished service” and her support of East-West Center degree fellows with an interest in the arts and humanities.
