Police seek ID on body found after party
Hawaii County police have initiated a coroner’s inquest in connection with a body found in the Hawaiian Acres subdivision Saturday.
A man was cleaning up his property on Road G following a Halloween party, when he discovered a body, police said. The victim, who has not been identified, was last seen walking in the area of the party.
Detectives have ruled out foul play after preliminary results of an autopsy conducted Tuesday, but are awaiting results on toxicology findings for a determination of the cause of death.
The victim is Caucasian, in his mid- to late 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, about 145 pounds with medium-length wavy dark brown hair, a light complexion, a mustache and a goatee. He was wearing a black trench coat, black "Metal Mulisha" board shorts and had piercings in his lower lip.
A&B and county OK land deal
Officials have finalized an agreement to acquire land for the Maui County Service Center and Paia Beach Park expansion, according to a county news release.
The agreement with Alexander & Baldwin last week allows the service center, now in Maui mall, to be on four acres in the A&B Business Park II in Kahului, the release said. The cost of the site is $7.1 million.
A&B is giving the county 30 acres of beachfront property between Baldwin Park and Lower Paia Park, expanding the North Shore park coastline, said Rod Antone, county spokesman.
Mayor Alan Arakawa said, "To me we got the best 2-for-1 deal of all time: Buy land for a service center and get a beachfront park as a bonus."
