Police officer indicted in sexual assault
An Oahu grand jury indicted a 35-year-old Honolulu police officer Thursday on a third-degree sexual assault charge.
Kramer Aoki was arrested at 10:45 a.m. Sept. 16 at the main police station on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault. His bail was set at $15,000.
He is a six-year veteran officer assigned to the Wahiawa station.
Man who died while swimming is ID’d
The city Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the 73-year-old man who died Monday while swimming at Ala Moana Park as Tai Nam Yim, a Honolulu resident.
The cause of his death is pending further tests.
Yim was found floating unresponsive in the water by another swimmer at 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Paramedics took him in critical condition to the hospital.
HPD knows who’s in selfie on stolen phone
Honolulu police have identified the man who may have taken a selfie with a stolen cellphone.
No arrests have been made. Police did not release any other details about the incident.
Police said a man "forcefully took" the purse and cellphone from a car at the Waipahu Transit Center at 2:45 p.m. Sept. 21.
The victim received a photo, which police believe may have been taken with the stolen cellphone.
Car strikes 5-year-old boy in Moanalua
A 5-year-old boy was reported in stable condition Friday after being hit by a car in Moanalua, according to Emergency Medical Services.
The pedestrian was struck at the 2900 block of Moanalua Road at about 5:30 p.m., and he was transported in stable condition to a hospital, EMS said.
