Hawaii surfer Carissa Moore won the season-ending Target Maui Pro on Thursday at Honolua Bay, Maui.
Moore defeated Australia’s Tyler Wright in the final with an 18.23 score in 4- to 6-foot waves in the ASP Women’s World Championship Tour’s final event of the 2014 season. Wright finished with a two-wave score of 14.03.
Moore’s win over Wright gave Australia’s Stephanie Gilmore the ASP world title, the sixth of her career.
In the final, Moore earned a 9.73 on her second wave to secure the win. Moore started the day with a win over Johanne Defay of France in the quarterfinals. She beat Courtney Conlogue in the semifinals.
Gilmore finished the year with three victories on tour and topped the standings with 64,200 points and earnings of $292,500. Wright was second with 62,200 points. Moore also won three events and finished third at 61,400 and earnings of $281,250. Hawaii’s Malia Manuel placed fifth (43,600).
