One of the Rainbow Wahine basketball team’s leading rebounders, Destiny King bounced back nicely from a quiet scoring night last week.
After going 0-for-3 from the floor in UH’s win over Prairie View A&M on Friday, King shot 9-for-18 over the next two games and scored 13 points against both Stanford and North Carolina. She also grabbed 10 rebounds against UNC on Sunday to close the Waikiki Beach Marriott Rainbow Wahine Shootout with her second double-double of the season in a 74-65 loss.
One of UH’s most versatile players, the 5-foot-10 King can run the point for the Wahine or battle inside. Through seven games, she’s second on the team with 6.1 rebounds per game and had five of UH’s 20 offensive boards against UNC.
King ended the three-day tournament by playing a season-high 37 minutes on Sunday. The Rainbow Wahine have the rest of the week to recharge and resume their homestand Saturday against Pacific.
