Magill makes AVCA all-region squad
University of Hawaii junior middle blocker Olivia Magill was named to the AVCA All-Pacific North Region Team on Tuesday.
Magill averaged 2.68 kills and 1.34 blocks per set and had a .405 hitting percentage for the Rainbow Wahine (22-7).
Last week, Magill was named to the Big West Conference first team.
Hawaii lost to Washington in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Saturday.
Arizona sophomore setter Penina Snuka, a Kahuku graduate, was named to the AVCA All-Pacific South Region Team.
Seasiders men’s hoops team up to No. 16
The Brigham Young-Hawaii men’s basketball team moved up seven spots to No. 16 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II poll.
The Seasiders (6-0, 2-0 PacWest) beat Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade last week.
BYU-Hawaii will play Alaska Fairbanks on Friday and Alaska Anchorage on Saturday in the Seawolf Jamboree in Anchorage, Alaska.
Sharks’ Hager honored by PacWest
Hawaii Pacific’s Luke Hager has been named the Pacific West Conference men’s basketball player of the week.
Hager, a 6-foot-7 junior, combined to score 52 points and grab 17 rebounds in two games last week, including a career-high 28 points against Brigham Young-Hawaii.
He ranks fourth in the conference in scoring (20.0) and fifth in rebounding (8.3).
HPU men’s basketball game moved
The Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team’s game Dec. 19 against Montana State-Billings at the Neal Blaisdell Center has been moved to 4:30 p.m.
The matchup between Chaminade and Hawaii will follow at 7 p.m.
General admission for the doubleheader is $12 for adults, $8 for ages 60 and older and $5 for ages 5 through high school and college students with a school ID. Children 4 and under will be admitted free.
