Long perfect from line to lead HPU men
Senior guard Justin Long scored a game-high 22 points and converted all 10 of his free-throw attempts to lead the Hawaii Pacific men’s basketball team to a 73-68 Pacific West Conference road victory Saturday over Hawaii Hilo.
Luke Hager chipped in 17 points and had eight rebounds for HPU (5-2, 2-1 PacWest).
Marcello Campbell and Tre Johnson had 18 points each for Hawaii Hilo, which is 4-5 overall and still seeking its first PacWest win after three losses. Darius Johnson-Wilson recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
HPU women unbeaten in PacWest hoops
Hawaii Pacific ran its Pacific West Conference record to 3-0 Saturday by defeating Hawaii Hilo 71-63 in a women’s basketball match-up Saturday in Hilo.
Chenise Peone led three players in double figures for the Sharks (7-1) with 18 points. Kylie Huerta added 15 points and Veanne Navarro 13.
Hayley Reynolds led all scorers with 24 points and McKenzie Mangino had 13 for the Vulcans (2-5,1-2).
