Morning crash kills man on motorcycle
A motorcyclist died early Sunday morning after a crash in front of the Diamond Head Theatre, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
A 39-year-old man was heading south on Makapuu Avenue when he struck a curb and hit the ground, according to police.
The man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he died.
Police said speed was a factor in the crash.
Pedestrian, 9, badly injured by vehicle
A 9-year-old boy was in serious condition Sunday morning after a vehicle hit him as he was crossing a street in Waimanalo, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. at Kalanianaole Highway and Moole Street, near Waimanalo Elementary and Intermediate School.
Paramedics treated the boy and took him to a hospital.
Woman charged with felony abuse of man
Prosecutors charged a 28-year-old woman with abusing a 57-year-old man Saturday in Palolo.
Police said the Palolo woman physically abused the victim in the presence of three minor children at about 12:20 p.m.
Officers arrested the woman at her Ahe Street home, and she was charged Saturday with felony abuse of a family or household member. Her bail was set at $2,000.
Suspect held in assault on police officers
A 30-year-old man has been charged with injuring two police officers during an arrest Friday in Waikiki.
Jerod Mcdade, who doesn’t have a local address, was charged at 4:15 p.m. Saturday with two counts of first-degree assault on a law enforcement officer. His bail was set at $40,000.
Police said Mcdade injured two officers and harassed two others while resisting an arrest at 408 Lewers St. at about 8:40 p.m. Friday.
Police did not say why officers were trying to arrest Mcdade before he resisted.
Man allegedly chokes woman in car
Police arrested a 35-year-old man, who has no local address, for allegedly choking a 33-year-old woman in a vehicle in Salt Lake. Police said the couple was inside a vehicle arguing 11:15 p.m. Wednesday when the man allegedly choked the woman with his arm. The man was identified, and police arrested him at 6:30 a.m. Thursday on suspicion of felony abuse of a household member.
The case is pending investigation.

Police arrest 3 in vehicle thefts
Kauai police arrested three people suspected of stealing cars in separate incidents over the last two months.
Among those arrested was a 20-year-old man who is suspected of stealing a car from a Hanamaulu residence Tuesday.
The owner of the vehicle located the suspect with the stolen vehicle in Anahola and alerted police.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and third-degree assault related to an altercation with the vehicle’s owner. The suspect was on probation for 12 previous property crimes.
The other two people arrested were a 25-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, who are accused of stealing two cars that were left on the roadside after breakdowns.
The suspects were found Thursday on Haiku Road while attempting to paint one of the vehicles. Both were arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a motorized vehicle. The male suspect was also arrested in connection with a separate case of forgery and theft.
Agency warns of phone scam
The Maui Department of Water Supply has warned customers of a billing scam.
The department said it has received reports from customers about unauthorized phone calls for water bill payment. Someone claiming to be a department representative called customers demanding payment for a delinquent account, stating that a representative will be collecting in two hours, the agency said in a press release.
Customers who receive suspicious calls regarding water bill payment should contact the DWS Fiscal/ Customer Service Office at 270-7730 and the Maui Police Department.
