Pound mochi Sunday morning in Aiea
Aiea Hongwanji Mission is inviting the public to experience the Japanese ritual of mochi pounding at 8 a.m. Sunday.
Participants will pound, roll and taste the mochi at the mission, 99-186 Puakala St., just off Moanalua Road near Aloha Stadium.

Entertainer premieres her own wine
Singer Amy Hanaiali‘i Gilliom has entered the wine biz. Gilliom’s inaugural 2013 Hanaiali‘i Napa Valley Merlot, produced by the JW Thomas Group, is available on Oahu for about $25.
Gilliom characterized her merlot as "how us local girls like to drink wine," with rich fruit and chocolate flavors.
Hanaiali‘i is sold at Times Supermarkets, Don Quijote, Tamura’s and Whole Foods locations on Oahu, and is served at Hoku’s at Kahala Resort, BLT at the Trump International Waikiki and Il Lupino at Royal Hawaiian Center.
