The end of the year is a time of reflection and looking ahead to new beginnings with a vexing mixture of uncertainty and hope over how one’s life will unfold over the next 12 months.
Many turn to astrologers for clues as to what to expect, while others do so for entertainment or distraction. Either way, syndicated horoscope columnist Jacqueline Bigar says your fate is in your own hands. More important than events swirling around you is your reaction to them.
Bigar has been keeping people amused and amazed by her astrology forecasts since 1978. She earned her column at the Philadelphia Daily News after successfully predicting for the editor the end of a major newspaper strike in the city.
Her column was syndicated by King Features in 1991, and "Jacqueline Bigar’s Stars" now reaches millions of people daily through her newspaper columns, radio and television appearances and website, jacquelinebigar.com. The Honolulu Star-Advertiser carries it daily in the Today section.
Even in the 21st century, horoscopes remain a popular feature.
"People turn to astrology because they’re insecure about the future. Change happens, but it’s who you are that has the most impact on the outcome," Bigar said. "There are always things to be feared, but I watch people and find those who are highly evolved rarely have a hard time. It’s people who resist change who have a hard time.
"Most people don’t want change, no upsets. They are in favor of anything that preserves the status quo. But change isn’t the end. Change is living. Without change there would be no excitement, no vitality in your life."
2015 OUTLOOK
Luckily, if you take stock in such things, we’re exiting a rough patch caused by the alignment of Uranus and Pluto seven times since June 2012. According to Bigar, those planets are associated with the unexpected, upheaval, death and devastation. The last Uranus-Pluto alignment will take place March 15.
The unfortunate alignment was combined with two years of Saturn in Scorpio, associated with darkness, frustration and the potential for hitting bottom. Saturn, the planet of discipline, law and learning, entered Sagittarius on Wednesday and will be there through Dec. 19, 2017, save for a Scorpio retrograde period June 14 to Sept. 17, 2015. Saturn in Scorpio brought deceit and underhandedness to the forefront, including emphasizing a feeling of mistrust in government and other institutions. Saturn in Sagittarius may help to resolve many grievances of the past few years.
Also on the bright side in 2015, Bigar said we’re likely to feel the effects of Jupiter’s transit through Leo, through August. With Jupiter the planet of plenty, and Leo a sign of romance, she said fire and air signs will feel it most, but added, "The change affects all of us. I hear everybody talking about love, and I think it’s hysterical."
During the Jupiter-in-Leo cycle, people tend to place more value on expressing affection, generosity and uniqueness. It is a time to grow and succeed through self-expression, helping people and self-improvement.
