Man charged in McCully assault
A 19-year-old man has been charged with the assault of a 21-year-old man in McCully.
Mario Narte Jr. was charged Saturday with second-degree assault. His bail was set at $100,000.
Police said Narte attacked a 21-year-old man with a dangerous instrument, causing serious injuries at about 3:30 a.m. Friday.
The victim was taken in serious condition to a hospital but later improved to stable condition.
Narte was arrested about four hours later on Hausten Street for investigation of second-degree attempted murder and theft.
Chest pains earn boater a helicopter ride
The Coast Guard evacuated a 29-year-old man suffering from chest pains from a fishing boat about 92 miles southwest of Oahu on Sunday.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Barbers Point safely hoisted the man from the Lady Karen at 7:21 a.m. and transferred him to the Queen’s Medical Center at 8:03 a.m.
The boat’s crew contacted the Coast Guard Joint Rescue Coordination Center in Honolulu at 5:25 p.m. Friday regarding medical assistance for a crew member with a heart condition.
A Coast Guard flight surgeon recommended a 12-hour communications schedule with the Lady Karen. The man’s condition worsened, and the flight surgeon recommended a medevac.
