Duo sought in attempted ATM heist
Police are looking for two men who tried to steal an ATM early Monday morning from an Aiea shopping center.
The thieves tripped a burglar alarm at 3:50 a.m. at the Aiea Town Square shopping center on Kauhale Street.
Police said the pair reportedly drove off in a white van.
Man charged with terroristic threatening
A 35-year-old Hilo man was charged with attempting to stab and run down a man on New Year’s Day with his sport utility vehicle.
John Gouveia was charged Friday with three counts of first-degree terroristic threatening. His bail was set at $30,000.
Police responded to the 800 block of Kaiwiki Road in Hilo at 1:40 a.m. Thursday and found the suspect brandishing a hunting knife and attempting to stab a 43-year-old Hilo man, police said. The suspect then reportedly attempted to hit the victim with his SUV.
When two neighbors went to investigate, the suspect reportedly tried to hit them with the SUV as well, police said. Police arrested Gouveia a short time later off Wainaku Street.
Victim of fatal motorcycle crash identified
The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday that the 29-year-old man killed when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a car in Kaaawa on Friday was Raymundo Dela Carcel of Honolulu.
The crash occurred on Kamehameha Highway in Kaaawa. The motorcycle driver was taken in critical condition to a hospital, where he died.
