Marijuana found in abandoned luggage
The Department of Public Safety announced Wednesday that state sheriff deputies seized a large amount of marijuana from a piece of luggage at Honolulu Airport.
Twelve large, clear plastic bags filled with marijuana were found Dec. 26 inside an abandoned bag.
An airline employee discovered the bag at the Hawaiian Air baggage claim area and immediately called sheriffs. The Sheriff Division turned over the marijuana to the federal Drug Enforcement Administration for further investigation.
Maui police on lookout for missing woman
Maui police are looking for 40-year-old homeless woman who was reported missing after she failed to arrive on a scheduled trip to Seattle.
Audra Sharp was to have flown from Maui to Seattle to meet her boyfriend Jan. 11.
The boyfriend alerted Sharp’s mother when Sharp did not arrive. Sharp’s mother contacted the Kahului Salvation Army, which in turn contacted Maui police.
Sharp is described as Caucasian, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighs 165 pounds and has green eyes and brown hair.
Anyone with information on Sharp’s whereabouts is asked to call Detective Dennis Lee on Maui at 244-6425.
Pedestrian, 72, hurt in Kaimuki accident
A 72-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured Thursday at or near a hardware store in Kaimuki.
Emergency Medical Services reported the accident occurred at 6:57 p.m. at 3086 Waialae Avenue, the address of the Kaimuki City Mill, and involved a vehicle.
EMS paramedics treated the man, who suffered traumatic injuries, and transported him in serious condition to a trauma center.
