Man who died after fall from van is ID’d
The city Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday the 32-year-old man who died Sunday after falling from a cargo van in the parking lot of Aloha Stadium was identified as Lauie Auapaau of Waipahu.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police said the driver, a 39-year-old Honolulu man, was traveling north in the parking lot at about 4:15 a.m.
Auapaau was sitting in the rear of the cargo van with the door open when he fell out and struck the pavement, according to police. He was taken in critical condition to a hospital, where he died.
Suspect arrested in robbery of cabdriver
Officers arrested a 26-year-old Wahiawa man after he was seen by the cabdriver whom he allegedly attacked and robbed earlier this month, police said.
When the cabdriver took the suspect to his Wahiawa home at about midnight Jan. 3, the man struck the 42-year-old driver and fled, police said.
The driver saw the suspect in Mililani on Saturday and called police. Officers arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree robbery and promotion of a dangerous drug.
