The issue goes before Board of Regents committees on personal affairs and inter-collegiate athletics on Wednesday. The executive session is closed to the public, according to the posted agenda.
UH officials declined comment on how much of a hike will be discussed, but the current range for the position is $225,000-$315,000, a spokesman said.
In its Jan. 14 advertisement for the AD position, UH does not specify a range, listing only "salary commensurate with experience." Minimum qualifications include "three years of athletic administrative experience at the collegiate level or any equivalent combination of education and experience."
The UH athletic director supervises 21 sports and a $32 million operation.
The average AD salary in the 12-school Mountain West, where UH competes in football, was $295,783 in 2013, according to information from a USA Today survey.
In the Big West, where most of UH’s other teams compete, the average was $197,700 in 2013.
