Multiple lanes on westbound H-1 to close
The state Department of Transportation warns Oahu motorists of multiple lane closures on the westbound H-1 freeway beginning near the Kaimakani Street overpass to the Waipahu offramp from 8 p.m. Thursday to 4:30 a.m. Friday for girder installations on the Pearl City Viaduct.
Two right lanes will be closed starting at 8 p.m. and a third lane will be closed at 9 p.m.
The Waipahu offramp will be closed from 8 p.m. Thursday to 4:30 a.m. Friday. Waipahu-bound motorists are advised to use the Waikele/Waipahu offramp to Paiwa Street and Waipahu Street as an alternate route. The Pearl City/Waimalu offramp is not recommended as an alternate route to Waipahu due to scheduled nighttime Honolulu rail transit construction on Kamehameha Highway between Waimano Home Road and Waiawa Road in both directions.

Kauai shuttle to visitor spots gains popularity
LIHUE » An experimental shuttle on Kauai’s North Shore is attracting passengers.
The Garden Island newspaper reported Wednesday that the Experience Kauai shuttle had more than 1,000 passengers in November, its first month. More than 1,500 rode the shuttle in December and it’s on course to carry even more passengers this month.
The shuttle goes to resorts and popular visitor spots in Princeville, Hanalei, Wainiha, Haena and Kee.
Kauai County Office of Economic Development Director George Costa says the primary goal is to reduce the number of cars that travel to the Hanalei and Haena area and park at Kee Beach.
The shuttle charged introductory fares of $2 each way for visitors and $1 each way for residents during its first two weeks. The fares have since been raised to $4 and $2, respectively.
