UH football opener moved up to Sept. 3
The University of Hawaii football team’s season opener against Colorado at Aloha Stadium has been moved up to Thursday, Sept. 3. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The Rainbow Warriors and Buffaloes were scheduled to play Sept. 5. The move allows Hawaii two extra days to prepare for its game at defending national champion Ohio State on Sept. 12.
Wahine, Texas will meet in spring match
Hawaii will host national semifinalist Texas in its annual spring exhibition women’s volleyball match March 19 at the Stan Sheriff Center. Match time is 7 p.m.
Tickets go on sale Friday at the Sheriff Center box office from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; by phone at 944-2697 during box office hours; and online at hawaiiathletics.com. General admission tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students ages 4 through high school.
Reserved courtside seating is available through ‘Ahahui Koa Anuenue for $25. Call 956-6500 for information.
"This will give us a good gauge as to where we stand going into the 2015 season," Rainbow Wahine coach Dave Shoji said. "As usual, they will be loaded with talent."
Texas has advanced to the final four six of the past seven seasons, winning the 2012 NCAA title. Hawaii upset the top-ranked Longhorns to open the 2013 season.
Texas won the Big 12 title last year, losing to BYU in the NCAA semifinals. Hawaii was eliminated in the NCAA second round by host Washington.
