In a rare must-win situation to advance to the girls state soccer tournament, Pearl City got two goals from Daelenn Tokunaga and another by Nikki Suwa to beat Aiea 3-1 and secure a record 31st straight trip to states.
The Chargers (8-3-1) haven’t missed states since 1984, but had to knock out Na Alii (7-3-2), who was the state runner-up a year ago, to avoid ending the streak.
Jordan Hill scored the lone goal for Aiea, the West No. 2 seed.
Kaiser 1, Kapolei 0
Savanna Arakaki scored the only goal as the No. 2-seeded Cougars out of the East clinched a state-tournament berth with a shutout of the Hurricanes (6-6-1).
Kaiser (9-2-1) bounced back from a quarterfinals loss to Campbell with its eighth shutout win of the season.
The Cougars will play Pearl City for fifth place on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at Roosevelt
DIVISION II PLAYOFFS
Nanakuli 2, Farrington 0
Rayna Santiago scored both goals for the Golden Hawks (3-4-4), who clinched a state-tournament berth with a victory over the Governors (1-10).
Nanakuli, the No. 2 seed out of the West, will play East No. 1 seed Kalani (3-4-3) in the semifinals on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Roosevelt.
Waialua 2, McKInley 0
Dallas Young-Toledo and Cierra-Lynn Ramirez scored for the Bulldogs (3-6-2) in a win over the Tigers (2-8-1).
The Bulldogs will play West No. 1 seed Waipahu (3-4-3) in the semifinals on Thursday.
Waipahu beat Waialua 4-2 in the regular season on Dec. 12.
