Lava flow front remains stalled in Pahoa area
The leading edge or front of the lava flow closest to Highway 130 in the Pahoa area has shown no sign of advancing in the past week, Hawaii County Civil Defense said Monday.
The lava front was about 0.36 mile from the highway, west of the Pahoa police and fire stations Monday morning, Civil Defense said.
Smoke and vog conditions Monday were moderate to heavy, with a light wind blowing the smoke in a northeasterly direction.
Civil Defense advised those with respiratory problems to stay indoors as smoke conditions are predicted to increase in some areas.
The public lava viewing area at the Pahoa Recycling and Transfer Station was closed Sunday to allow the station to restore to normal operations by March 1.
