Suspect, 56, arrested in fatal stabbing
A 56-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after a fatalstabbing at Tracks Beach in Nanakuli.
A 44-year-old woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition with stab wounds to her upper body following the 8 a.m. incident, Emergency Medical Services reported. Police said she later died.
Police said the pair had been arguing when the stabbing occurred. The suspect was arrested at the scene after police were called at 8:12 a.m.
Inmate faces discipline for attack on guard
A Halawa Correctional Facility inmate attacked a guard Wednesday morning during a routine cell inspection, said Public Safety spokeswoman Toni Schwartz.
The inmate, housed at the special needs facility at Halawa, faces disciplinary action for the assault, Schwartz said. The prisoner is serving time for second-degree theft.
Schwartz said the sergeant, who was attacked at 9 a.m., was accompanied by another corrections officer while making the cell inspection. She said the other officer acted quickly to restrain the inmate during the attack, which lasted less than one minute.
The sergeant went to the hospital on his own for treatment of minor injuries, Schwartz said.
Man in serious condition after fall on rocks
Ocean Safety lifeguards rescued a 24-year-old man who fell about 25 to 30 feet onto rocks in the Mokulua Islands on Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency Services Department spokeswoman Shayne Enright said in an email that at about 3 p.m. Ocean Safety rescue craft operators secured the patient to a sled and transported him to the Kailua Beach Park boat ramp, where Emergency Medical Services and fire personnel awaited. Paramedics treated the man for a foot injury and abrasions to his hip, chest and arms. He was taken to the trauma center in serious condition.
1 robbery suspect arrested, 1 still on loose
Police arrested a 26-year-old Manoa woman Tuesday for allegedly robbing a Keeaumoku-area store on Jan. 10.
Police said two people entered the store and were seen taking items without permission between 4:40 and 5:20 p.m. When store employees tried to stop them, one of the suspects used a chemical spray on an employee, police said. Both fled on foot.
Police received tips through CrimeStoppers and were able to find the woman and arrest her Tuesday morning, but a male suspect has not yet been arrested, police said.

Man pulled from ocean ID’d by police
Maui police on Wednesday identified the 46-year-old Lahaina man who died last month after being pulled from the ocean.
Several surfers tried to revive Andrea Delia as they brought him to shore at the beach fronting 110 Kaanapali Shores Place in Lahaina on Dec. 29. Delia was taken to Maui Memorial Hospital in critical condition. He died at the hospital on Jan. 7.
