Man arrested in assaults, drug possession
Police arrested a 27-year-old man who allegedly injured and assaulted two people Thursday morning at a beach along the Ka Iwi shoreline near the Makapuu Lighthouse.
Police said the man allegedly damaged a 46-year-old woman’s car, injuring a 41-year-old man.
The man also allegedly assaulted a 48-year-old man.
Police said the attack occurred at 9 a.m. Thursday at Alan Davis Beach.
Police located the suspect, who was allegedly found in possession of narcotics. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder, third-degree assault, reckless endangerment and promoting dangerous drugs.
Big Isle police on the hunt for wire thieves
Hawaii island police are investigating the theft of about 4,000 feet of copper wiring from power poles in the Wood Valley area.
Between 10 p.m. Jan. 5 and 8 a.m. Jan. 6, thieves removed the No. 4 copper wire, police said. The copper was valued at $39,360.
