Kaiser Permanente Hawaii’s unionized workers will be back on the job Sunday, following a six-day strike organized by Unite Here Local 5. The workers at the Moanalua Medical Center and Maui Lani medical office will be returning. Other workers will be back Monday, when all facilities will be open.
The state’s largest HMO temporarily closed 10 smaller clinics while consolidating operations at larger facilities during the work stoppage over the past week. Clinics reopening include Hawaii Kai, Kahuku, Kailua, Kapolei, Nanaikeola, Pearlridge and Mapunapuna on Oahu; Kihei on Maui; and Waimea and South Kona on Hawaii island.
