Holloway wins UFC fight in Colorado
Waianae’s Max Holloway defeated Cole Miller by unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night 60 on Saturday in Broomfield, Colo.
Holloway (12-3, 8-3 UFC) won 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 on the judges’ scorecards to extend his winning streak to five. It’s the second-longest active win streak at 145 pounds, matching Conor McGregor and trailing only champion Jose Aldo (seven).
Holloway opened a cut over Miller’s left eye in the second round with a head butt. He came out and dominated the third with a variety of technical strikes from different positions to baffle Miller (21-9, 10-7), who was bleeding profusely from the middle of his forehead when the fight ended.
"The first round I kind of started slow," said Holloway, who thought he lost the round. "I just had to dig deep and got the win."
After the fight, UFC announcer Jon Anik announced that Holloway will fight Cub Swanson on April 18 if Holloway is ready.
Swanson is the No. 5-ranked fighter in the division, giving Holloway the high-profile fight he’s been searching for.
