Robbery attempt reported at UH-Manoa
University of Hawaii-Manoa officials reported an attempted robbery at a dormitory and a sexual assault off campus Sunday.
The sexual assault occurred at 2 a.m. Sunday when a man with a beard approached a female student near Beretania Street and University Avenue and grabbed her, the UH Department of Public Safety reported.
The student managed to flee the area.
At 10 p.m. Sunday a man in his 40s approached an employee outside of Kuykendall Hall and asked for his wallet, campus security reported.
The employee refused, and the man fled on foot toward Dole Street. No weapon or threat of force was used.
Japanese student falls overboard
A student on a Japanese training vessel was reported missing and presumed overboard off Kauai on Tuesday.
The Coast Guard said it was searching for the 17-year-old student about 138 miles southwest of Kauai after being notified at 9:56 a.m. that he was overboard from the Hokuho Maru, which was heading from Honolulu to Japan.
The student was last seen at 2:50 a.m., and was reported missing after not showing up for muster. He had been wearing a light-green jumpsuit.
A Coast Guard HC-130 Hercules airplane crew from Barbers Point was diverted from a training mission to begin a search, and Coast Guard cutters Kittiwake and Kiska were en route to join the search.
Man in hospital with possible stab wounds
Police are looking for a man following a possible fight early Tuesday morning in Halsey Terrace.
The incident occurred just after 5 a.m., and a 41-year-old man was hospitalized in serious condition with possible stab wounds, Emergency Medical Services reported. Police have classified the case as a second-degree assault.
Inmate missing from Hawaii island facility
Hawaii County police are looking for Hale Nani reintegration center inmate Railee Santos, who was reported missing from the center Monday evening.
Santos was present at a 6 p.m. head count but was noticed missing an hour later. Santos, 20, was serving time for terroristic threatening. His sentence was to have ended in June.
