Chaminade golf struggles in mainland debut
Playing in its first-ever regular-season tournament on the mainland, the Chaminade men’s golf team carded a 76-over-par 636 through two rounds played Monday on the first day of the Coyote Classic at the par-70, 6,528-yard Arrowhead Country Club in San Bernardino, Calif.
The Silverswords are in 15th place out of 15 teams entering Tuesday’s final 18-hole round. Conditions were rainy, with temperatures in the mid-50s amid a winter storm warning.
Chico State, the No. 3 squad in the Golfstat Division II Top 25 rankings, leads the event at 13 over. ‘Swords freshman R.J. Garczynski posted a 15-over-par 155 (17 shots off the lead) to headline the Chaminade contingent.
Chaminade’s Henry nets defensive honor
Chaminade sophomore guard Kristle Henry was named PacWest Conference Women’s Basketball Defender of the Week on Monday.
The Kauai High product notched 11 steals in games against Azusa Pacific and Holy Names last week. Henry has 52 thefts this season and is the PacWest steals leader with 2.7 takeaways per game.
