Early in her sophomore season, Sarina Jaramillo has provided a steady hand at the plate and in the field for the Rainbow Wahine softball team.
Jaramillo earned a spot on the Bank of Hawaii Invitational all-tournament team by hitting .429 (6-for-14) over five games. She closed the tournament by going 3-for-4 and driving in three runs against UTEP and ascended to second on the team’s batting chart at .341. She also ranks second on the team with 12 RBIs while hitting seventh in the order.
Defensively, the Rainbow Wahine shortstop has committed one error in 51 total chances. UH coach Bob Coolen said Jaramillo "put on a show" in the field during the Wilson/DeMarini Desert Classic. During last week’s tournament, she made a diving stop in the hole then flipped the ball to third for a force out.
The Wahine (9-7) open the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament on Thursday against No. 19 California (13-1).
