The Maui Department of Parks and Recreation will close offices on certain days in March and April to implement a new software permitting system.
These closures will give parks staff time to convert to the new permitting and scheduling program, which is designed to provide more efficient scheduling and processing of the more than 10,000 permits handled annually.
The department said the system improvements will include updating forms and establishing a clearer process for its many permitting forms and procedures.
Offices closed Tuesday, Thursday, March 19 and 31, and April 2 and 6: Central District Permit Office at the War Memorial Complex, East District Permit Office at the Eddie Tam Memorial Complex, South District Permit Office at the Kihei Community Center and West District Permit Office at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Offices closed Thursday and March 19 and April 2 and 6: Molokai District Permit Office at the Mitchell Pauole Complex, Lanai Permit Office at the Lanai Gymnasium and Hana Permit Office at the Hana Community Complex.
During these closures, the District Recreation Offices will be open to assist with pickups and drop-offs that cannot be arranged for the days the permit offices are open.
