Other officers and civilians honored at the Mission Memorial Auditorium recognition ceremony by the Honolulu Police Department on Wednesday were:
>> Cpl. Melvin Raquedan and civilian Ethyl Donlin, who received the Bronze Medal of Merit and Certificate of Merit, respectively, for administering CPR to an unconscious child who was pulled out of the Ewa Gentry Community Center swimming pool in June.’
>> Jessi Everett, Reiko Suzuki and Brittny Ushijima, who received Civilian Certificates of Merit for coordinating the Kahala Mall’s Shop With a Cop event in December. The three worked with the HPD and the Kahala Mall Merchants Association to provide food, gift cards and photos with Santa for 16 children.
>> District 8’s (Kapolei) Second Watch, Sector 3, was named the Unit of the Quarter. As part of the HPD’s on- going efforts to make Oahu roads safer, this unit has adopted the “Take 30” traffic campaign and issued 1,648 citations and made 118 arrests in the last quarter of 2014. The unit also surveyed the 20 schools in the district for feedback on police services. The Second Watch’s Sector 3 officers are Cpls. Joseph Keola IV, Edward Manzano, Jaime Pabalan and Donald Slattery Jr.; and Officers Robert King, Todd Manabat, Ster- ling Ohia Jr., Preston Pacheco, Keng-Chuan Wu and Guy Yoshimoto.
