Hawaiian Telcom won the gold award for Best Marketing of a New Product or Service for its suite advertisements on its home television and other communications services.
The award was from the Hawaii Chapter of the American Marketing Association in its 38th annual Marketer of the Year competition.
Hawaiian Telcom’s ad campaign increased brand awareness to 79 percent from 65 percent and grew customer leads for their TV and broadband service by 279 percent online and by 24 percent over the phone.
Frank Haas won the AMA Lifetime Achievement Award for a career spanning a spectrum of marketing for various industries including hospitality, travel, food service, technology, education and advertising.
The AMA Young Marketer of the Year is Jennifer Armstrong, owner of Kaia Consulting, which specializes in public relations, marketing and social media communications. She has worked with a variety of clients in the nonprofit, event services, publishing, industrial, hospitality, and food and beverage industries.
The Best Nonprofit Marketing Award went to AccesSurf Hawaii for using an array of media to increase its programs, boost its volunteer and donor bases, and form new international partnerships. Annual donations increased by some 40 percent, while volunteer inquiries grew by more than 20 percent.
Hawaii Pacific Health was selected as the gold winner for Best e-Marketing for its new website optimized for mobile devices, e-newsletters, health and wellness blog, launching its YouTube channel and for creating what AMA Hawaii calls "robust" social media channels for the network’s four hospitals.
The Best Rebrand Marketing Award gold recipient is Molokai Ranch, which had closed in 2008 but sprang back to life through work in breeding and caring for animals, renewable energy, sustainable farming and hospitality.
Hawaiian Airlines’ gold-level award is for Best Marketing of an Event for its relaunch of its HawaiianMiles credit card. The airline staged a high-profile kickoff event at the Bank of Hawaii Plaza as the culmination of a monthlong effort to build consumer awareness. The work resulted in 15,000 credit card applications and an estimated 104,000 viewer and/or listener impressions through marketing.
Awardees will be honored at the AMA Hawaii awards luncheon April 9 at the Hawaii Prince Hotel.
