BYU-Hawaii softball sweeps Faulkner
Destyni Valencia pitched a one-hitter as the Brigham Young-Hawaii softball team beat Faulkner 1-0 in the first game of a doubleheader Thursday at BYUH field.
Valencia walked one batter and struck out six. Tiffany Smith’s sacrifice fly scored Kalynn Latu in the third inning for the game’s only run.
In the second game, Valencia pitched 3 2/3 hitless innings of relief in the Seasiders’ 7-3 victory.
Valencia, who relieved Brittany Vasquez, walked two batters and struck out three. Courtney Hiruko scored three times and Lizabelle Talataina and Whitley Haimin each drove in two runs for BYU-Hawaii. The Seasiders improved to 6-18, while the Eagles dropped to 11-7.
