After moving into Kakaako, Sukit and Rebecca Sinn Kanaprach decided what the neighborhood needed was a wine shop, a need that merged nicely with their own love of wine and sake. Husband and wife recently celebrated the grand opening of their shop, Kaka’ako Wine Loft & Sake Collection.
Sukit has been an oenophile since he was a teenager reading up on wines, waiting for the day he could take his first legal sip. The two bring their respective tastes to shelves stocked with reasonably priced American, French and Italian wines, and effervescent sparkling sake in addition to more standard sake and shochu.
Tastings are held every Friday, alternating between sake and wine. This week the focus will be on several styles of summer wine.
Stop by the next time you’re in the area, or after Eat the Street. And, if you can’t make it, there’s delivery service within a 3-mile radius of the shop for a flat $9.98 fee. Shop hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays to Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Delivery hours are noon to 6 p.m.
The shop is at 665 Halekauwila St. C-107, between Keawe and Coral streets. Call 545-7756.
