Crispin Hellion Glover, the eccentric actor/avant-garde director, will screen his two cult films and present his "Big Slide Show" this weekend at Nextdoor.

"It’s Fine, Everything Is Fine" will screen at 7 p.m. Friday. Glover directed the film, which was written by and stars the late Steven C. Stewart, who suffered from cerebral palsy. The story follows a stream of sexual fantasies from Stewart’s point of view.

"What Is It?" will screen at 7 p.m. Saturday. This was Glover’s feature directorial debut. It follows a boy obsessed with snails who is struggling with his inner racist psyche. It features a cast made up entirely of actors with Down syndrome and Stewart also appears in the film.

Both evenings will start with Glover’s slideshow, a one-hour dramatic reading that draws from his eight novels. Glover’s works are often re-used books that have fallen into the public domain, which allows him to add passages, black out passages and include images to create something new.

Glover will answer questions after each screening.

Among indie film fans, Glover’s two films have a near-mythical status because they have been said to break visual and cultural taboos. Because of their graphic content, no one under 21 will be admitted to the screenings. Event organizers say Glover only has two copies of his films and screens them exclusively at events such as this.

Nextdoor is located at 43 N. Hotel St. in Chinatown.

Glover has had a long career playing eccentric roles but is perhaps best known for playing George McFly in "Back to the Future" in 1985.
