Lots of changes are taking place at Westgate Las Vegas, formerly the Las Vegas Hilton and LVH. A marble walkway running through the casino is being put down, and a new bar has opened near the entrance. Along with several new restaurants, a new permanent Elvis Presley attraction called "Graceland Presents Elvis: The Exhibition — The Show — The Experience" is set to open April 23. Also, the famous SuperBook is in for a big overhaul. The plan is to create a three-level "stadium experience," with a bar and grill including private club booths. All seating and TVs will be upgraded. The remodel is expected to be completed in time for this year’s football season.
Casino closes: The little Opera House casino in North Las Vegas has closed. Indications are that a sale is in the works, but there’s been no official announcement. The casino has operated since 1968.
Free TV tix: Complimentary tickets are available to be an audience member for the shooting of a new TV show with Penn & Teller. "Fool Us" will tape Monday-Wednesday and April 19-22 at the Rio. Must be at least 14 years old, and you can print out tickets at mytvtickets.com.
Strip prime: Planet Dailies at Planet Hollywood serves a good prime rib dinner for $9.99 every day from 4 to 8 p.m. It comes with baked potato, vegetable and a salad, but get there early: This one’s popular and has been selling out before 8.
Shake Shack 2: Following the recent opening of the Shake Shack at New York-New York, a second Shake Shack has been announced for the Downtown Summerlin retail and restaurant complex on the west side of town. The new location is scheduled to open in 2016.
