UH Hilo men finish 13th at HSI golf tourney
University of Hawaii Hilo’s men’s golf team shot a team total of 935 and finished 13th overall at the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at Turlock Golf and Country Club in Turlock, Calif.
Senior Dalen Yamauchi led the Vulcans with a 12-over-par 228 to finish tied for 20th place.
Other golfers include James Coon, who shot a 234 and finished 51st, Conner Graves with a 236, Kyeton Littel with a 237 and David Tottori at 260.
BYU Hawaii loses twice to Academy of Art
BYU-Hawaii’s softball team dropped both games against Academy of Art, 10-2 and 13-12, on Tuesday at the Mission Blue Field in Brisbane, Calif.
The Seasiders got off to an early start when Lizabelle Talataina and Whitley Haimin both singled to bring in runners to give them a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.
The Urban Knights followed with two runs in the bottom of the inning and then scored eight unanswered runs to seal the first game 10-2.
The Seasiders took an early lead again in the second game, going ahead 5-0 in the first inning, but failed to capitalize in the seventh and eighth innings, losing the game by a final score of 13-12.
BYU-Hawaii’s record falls to 8-26 (4-20 PacWest), while Academy of Art improves to 24-24 (14-12 PacWest).
