Man swept into sea dies at hospital
A 60-year-old local man died Sunday after being washed into the water at a popular North Shore snorkeling spot.
Lifeguards rescued the man after he was washed from the rocks into the water at Three Tables Beach, near Sharks Cove, at about 2:40 p.m., according to an city Ocean Safety and Lifeguard Services report.
Lifeguards brought him to shore and performed CPR on him until an ambulance crew took over treatment and transported him to the hospital in critical condition. He later died.
Trio of divers saved after boat capsizes
Honolulu lifeguards and the Coast Guard rescued three men from the ocean Sunday after a wave capsized their boat about 1.5 miles off Turtle Bay.
The men were diving when a wave overturned their 16-foot boat at about 10:35 a.m., officials said.
Emergency Services spokeswoman Shayne Enright said lifeguards brought two men back to shore on a personnel watercraft and that the Coast Guard picked up one of the men by helicopter.
The divers, who are between 30 and 50 years old, were not hurt.
The boat sank, a Fire Department spokesman said.
Enright said conditions at the time were choppy, with 25 mph winds and 12-foot seas.
The National Weather Service has issued a small-craft advisory for Hawaii waters until 6 a.m. Tuesday.
Wind will be 30 to 35 mph with higher gusts, and rough seas will be 9 to 15 feet through early Tuesday, the Weather Service said.
Moped rider, age 77, hurt in Manoa crash
A 77-year-old woman was in serious condition Sunday after crashing her moped in Manoa.
Paramedics said the woman was wearing a helmet when she crashed near the intersection of Manoa and East Manoa roads at about 9 a.m.
No other vehicles were involved.
