Mama Rivera socked a three-run homer and ace Aubree Kim made an early four-run lead hold up as Mililani edged Campbell 4-3 to win the OIA Red softball crown at Tiger Stadium.

"I had a really tough regular season. I’ve learned to focus on changing speeds instead of just throwing hard," Kim said. "Mama, she’s amazing like always."

Both pitchers struggled early, getting out of bases-loaded jams in the first inning. But in the third, Kristen Ishii’s single brought Maya Yoshiura home for the game’s first run.

Two batters later, Rivera belted a three-run home run over the left-field fence and the Lady Trojans led 4-0.

Kim was in firm control even after the Sabers scored a run in the fifth. Chardonnay Pantastico doubled and scored an unearned run on an infield throwing error.

While Elisa Favela retired the last 14 batters she faced, it wasn’t enough to beat Kim. Mililani’s ace struck out seven and walked four.

Kim survived a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the seventh. Nashlynn Anguay’s two-out single plated two runs to bring Campbell within 4-3, but Kim got Caraugh Morris to ground out to short for the final out.
