A 28-year-old Kaneohe woman was critically injured Tuesday afternoon in a motorcycle accident on Likelike Highway.
Police said the motorcyclist was heading southbound on a 2006 black Yamaha at 3:13 p.m. when the crash occurred near the intersection with Gulick Avenue.
Police said the woman was speeding when she lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from it.
She suffered head and internal injuries and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
Police said she was not wearing a helmet.
Cause of death pending for man in crash
The city Medical Examiner’s Office is still awaiting test results before releasing the cause of death of a 49-year-old Honolulu man who police say may have had a medical condition that led to his death last week when he lost control of his truck and hit a guardrail on Queen Emma Street.
Danii Thomas was taken in critical condition by ambulance Thursday to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he died, police and Emergency Medical Services said.
Police said Thomas was driving a gold 2004 Toyota pickup truck heading north on Queen Emma Street just south of School Street when the truck veered off the road and hit the curb. The truck crossed the southbound lanes of traffic and crashed into a guardrail near the Queen Emma Street overpass, police said.
This was the 20th traffic fatality on Oahu in 2015, compared with 23 at the same time last year.
