Workshops will teach to reuse items
The Green House Hawaii is inviting people to reuse, renew and reinvent, transforming old T-shirts into new wearables or bags during two workshops this month.
An EcoChic T-Shirt ReMake session will take place 10 a.m. to noon May 23 at The Green House, 224 Pakohana St. in Pauoa Valley. The fee is $15 for adults or $20 for a parent/keiki (8 and older) team. Bring an old T-shirt to work on. The workshop also will present an option for dealing with the plastic bag ban that starts in July.
A DIY Calendar Gift Bag workshop will take place 1 to 2 p.m. the same day. Turn last year’s calendar into 12 gift bags to use for gifts, favors or other goodies. Learn a trash-to-treasure process that can be applied to any size or type of paper. You will receive enough supplies to make a dozen bags. Additional ideas for using old calendars will be shared. The cost is $15 for adults.
Registration is required for both sessions. Sign up at thegreenhousehawaii.com or call 524-8427.
BEAUTY SPOT
Cosmetics bonanza awaits at new Walgreens
We all recognize Walgreens as one of many places to shop for life’s basics, from toilet tissue and toothpaste to health and wellness products. But beauty addicts have even more reason to shop the remodeled Walgreens store at 1488 Kapiolani Blvd. at Keeaumoku Street.
The second floor of the 35,576-square-foot store features a LOOK Boutique beauty department that rivals many specialty stores. It carries a range of brands, from Cargo to Dr. Hauschka, plus many not found elsewhere on Oahu, including many European spa, sun care and skin care brands such as Champney’s from Britain, Eau Thermale Avene from the Languedoc-Roussillon region in southern France, Nuxe Paris and Lierac Paris.
The LOOK boutique is also home to a nail studio by Essie/O.P.I, with basic manicure services available for $12, color gel polish for $35, French gel polish for $40, nail art starting at $3, and more. Book an appointment at 949-8500.
Should beauty emergencies arise, it’s also good to know the store is open 24 hours daily, and for those days you just need to hide, a Sunglass Hut boutique adjoins the beauty department.
