Navy wants more women aboard

    Vice Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Michelle Howard, fifth from left, held an "all-hands call" question-and-answer session on Thursday at Pearl Harbor's Bloch Arena. Howard became the first female admiral in the history of the Navy last year, and in 1999 she became the first African-American woman to command a Navy ship when she took charge of the USS Rushmore, a dock landing vessel.
