Hawaii island police have charged a 20-year-old man for allegedly threatening two people with a knife and a firearm Thursday in Hilo.
According to police, Paiea Young threatened a 42-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman, both of Hilo, during an argument at Ponahawai Street and Kilauea Avenue.
Police located Young at his Haili Street apartment soon after and arrested him.
A search of Young’s apartment turned up a BB gun and a knife matching the description of the one used in the confrontation.
On Friday, Young was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening. He is being held in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Big Isle inmate faces charge in burglary
Hawaii island police have charged an inmate at Hawaii Community Correctional Center in connection with a Kurtistown burglary last year.
Luke Kaniaupio, 22, sentenced to jail in January for unrelated crimes, was charged on Thursday with second-degree burglary, according to police.
He is accused of entering a flower warehouse on North Ala Road and removing various items in a burglary on July 31, 2014. His bail was set at $2,000.
