Inmate fails to return from work furlough
Oahu Community Correctional Center inmate Daniel Seyler, who was serving time for assault, failed to return from a work furlough Wednesday night and now faces an escape charge.
Seyler, 52, left at 5:15 a.m. Wednesday from Laumaka Work Furlough Center to go to work. He was due back at 10:30 p.m. He is 6 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 205 pounds, has hazel eyes and brown hair that is balding.
Seyler is currently serving time for second-degree assault and failure to comply with sex offender registration requirements.
Prison official said the reason for the "failure to comply" charge is because he failed to update his registration to reflect the assault charge. He updated the registry and was in compliance before being allowed in the furlough program.
His next parole hearing is set for September. He faces an additional escape charge when found.
