Versatility is a recurring theme among the University of Hawaii women’s basketball team’s latest signees.
The Rainbow Wahine announced the signing of Andrea Easley and twins Lahni and Leah Salanoa — all 5-foot-11 incoming freshmen — on Thursday. They’ll join point guard Olivia Crawford, who signed in the fall, in the class of newcomers joining a UH team that went 23-9 and won the Big West regular-season title this season.
Easley is a combo guard from Horizon High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., where she was a four-year starter. She averaged 21 points, seven rebounds, six assists and three steals per game and UH coach Laura Beeman projects her playing anywhere from point guard to small forward.
Leah Salanoa averaged 13.6 points and 8.4 rebounds per game and earned first-team all-league and second-team all-county honors at Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard, Calif. Lahni Salanoa added 10.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game for the Spartans while earning a spot on the all-league second team. Beeman said both can contribute on the boards and have the ability to shoot from the perimeter.
Crawford averaged 22.1 points, 2.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.7 steals per game for Lakes High School in Lakewood, Wash.
