Two men were injured Wednesday night when a Jeep flipped over on Honoapiilani Highway in Lahaina.

Maui police said a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old man, both Lahaina residents, were in a green 1999 Jeep Wrangler that went out of control traveling north on the highway, drove onto the shoulder of the road and overturned just past Wahikuli Road at about 10:53 p.m. Wednesday.

Both men were ejected from the Jeep.

The 33-year-old man was in critical condition at the Maui Memorial Medical Center.

The 32-year-old man suffered “substantial injuries,” police said. His condition was not released.

Police said the men were not wearing seat belts.

A moped accident in Kalihi left a 15-year-old boy in critical condition Wednesday night.

Police said the accident happened at 7:40 p.m. at the intersection of North King and Umi streets.

A delivery truck driven by a Wahiawa man turned makai on Umi Street from North King Street into the path of the moped, which was traveling Koko Head on North King Street, police said.

The boy was ejected from the moped. He was not wearing a helmet, police said.

Paramedics initially took the boy to the hospital in serious condition, but his condition worsened to critical, police said.
