A 20-year-old Kailua-Kona man was reported in critical condition Sunday after he was allegedly assaulted by an 18-year-old woman.
At about 10:05 p.m. Sunday, patrol officers were at Kona Community Hospital for an unrelated case when the victim arrived in a private vehicle and was taken to the emergency room with a laceration on his left forearm.
Police said the man was involved in an altercation at a home on the 73-1200 block of Awakea Street in Kailua-Kona, according to a news release from the Hawaii Police Department.
Shortly after midnight, police arrested an 18-year-old woman on suspicion of first-degree assault and abuse of a family/household member.
The investigation into the assault is ongoing.
Man found in water off Waikiki dies
A man found in waters near Tonggs surf break Monday afternoon was pronounced dead shortly after surfers brought him to the shoreline, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
Paramedics responded to the scene at 2801 Coconut Ave. in the Waikiki area near Kaimana Beach shortly after 2 p.m.
Surfers had found the man, who was estimated to be in his 30s, according to the EMS report. No additional information was available.
Suspect accused of threats and assault
A 29-year-old man Kailua man is in custody after he allegedly threatened another man and then tried to choke him Sunday night.
Officers arrested the suspect in his Keolu Drive home at 6:10 p.m. on suspicion of attempted murder.
The police report did not say whether the 54-year-old victim needed medical treatment.
3 arrested after being found in stolen car
Three people were arrested Sunday morning after a routine traffic stop on Pali Highway revealed the car had been stolen and had license plates from another vehicle.
The arrests were made near Nuuanu Avenue and Pali Highway. The car had been stolen earlier this month, and license plates on the vehicle had been switched, police said.
Officers arrested the driver, a 30-year-old man, on suspicion of car theft and three outstanding contempt warrants.
A 31-year-old male passenger and 34-year-old female passenger were arrested on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a vehicle and outstanding bench warrants.
Multicar accident sends man to hospital
Paramedics took a man in his 50s to the hospital on Monday in serious condition after a three-car accident near Kalani High School in East Honolulu, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.
Four other people refused medical transport, EMS said.
The accident, at about 7:53 a.m., closed Koko Head-bound lanes of Kalanianaole Highway.
