Police arrested a 43-year-old Liliha man Tuesday night on suspicion of first-degree robbery and second-degree murder in connection with the death of a man Saturday at a Palolo Valley market.
The suspect was first arrested Monday night at his home on a parole violation, but police said he was later arrested at the main police station for investigation into the incident at New Valley Store on Palolo Avenue.
In that case, a suspect entered the convenience store and demanded money from a 50-year-old employee. An associate of the employee intervened and the suspect fired several rounds from a handgun at the associate, hitting him in the torso.
Keni "Rimoni" Pologa, 44, was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Gunman sought in Kalihi 7-Eleven holdup
Police are looking for a gunman who robbed a 7-Eleven Store in Kalihi early Tuesday morning.
The suspect, armed with a handgun, demanded money from the female cashier at the convenience store, 306 Kalihi St., near Nimitz Highway at about 1:50 a.m., police said. The gunman fled on foot in the Ewa direction on Republican Street.
No injuries were reported.
Police described the suspect as 6 feet to 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 270 to 300 pounds. He was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, tan shorts with brown stripes, silver athletic shoes and a white shirt covering his face.

Police seek tips in strong-arm theft of bike
Police are asking for help in identifying two suspects wanted in a Chinatown robbery last month.
Police said two men approached the victim at North Beretania and Smith streets at 6:20 p.m. May 4.
One of the men grabbed the victim’s bicycle while the other struck the victim, police said.
Police on Tuesday released a sketch of one of the suspects. One suspect is described as being in his 20s and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with bleached long blond hair. The other suspect is also in his 20s and 5 feet 8 inches tall, with short dark hair.

Oahu escapee may have returned to Maui
Maui police are asking the public to be on the lookout for an 18-year-old Wailuku woman who failed to return to the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility on Oahu and who they believe to be on Maui.
Maui police said Tuesday that Paula Kahue-Miranda left the Hawaii Youth Correctional Facility in Kailua at 10:30 a.m. May 7 on an approved day pass and was supposed to return by 5:30 p.m. that day.
Maui police say Kahue-Miranda is believed to have traveled to Maui and is known to frequent the Wailuku area.
She is described as 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing 125 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
