Construction of extension could begin in 2018 depending on funds

The city is moving forward with plans to extend Makakilo Drive, creating a second route out of the community and allowing an alternate access to the H-1 Freeway. The street ends within view of the new rail guideway and H-1, which lies behind the bluff at center. Construction is slated for 2018 or 2019, city officials say.
