So what has Scott Caan, who plays Danny "Danno" Williams in CBS’ "Hawaii Five-0," been doing during his summer vacation?
Acting in his self-penned romantic comedy, "The Trouble We Come From," that’s what. It’s playing at the Falcon Theatre in Burbank, Calif., through July 12.
His co-star is Michael Weston, who portrays a playwrightnamed Charlie who finds himself at a crossroads in his life with the news that his girlfriend is pregnant. Caan plays Charlie’s best friend, Vince, who tries to untangle the knots and complications in the playwright’s life. Claire van der Boom, who had a recurring role as Danno’s ex-wife Rachel on "Hawaii Five-0," plays Charlie’s girlfriend, Shelly.
If Caan had his druthers, he told the Los Angeles Times, he’d peel it, show it, move it."I don’t think I’m a singer, but I’d love to dance in a movie. And I’m really offended that they didn’t ask me to be in the new ‘Magic Mike XXL’ movie. I’ll take my shirt off and do a body roll," he said.
You hear that, Channing Tatum? If you need another bod, Caan’s willing. …
Caan certainly has been busy. "The Performance of Heartbreak and Other Plays," a collection of 11 of his one-act plays, is set to be published Sept. 15.
And production on the sixth season of "Five-0" resumes Wednesday, which looks like it’ll start without Caan’spresence. …

SCREEN GEMS: He’ll be Aquaman, the anticipated comic book character, in the forthcoming "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" down the line, but Hawaii’s Jason Momoa also will play the Miami Man in "The Bad Batch," director Ana Lily Amirpour‘s post-apocalyptic love story set in the Texas wasteland. Miami Man and Arlen (portrayed by Suki Waterhouse of the recent "Insurgent") provide a love/ romance thread amid a theme that includes cannibals. Part-Hawaiian Keanu Reeves (as The Dream) and Jim Carrey (as The Hermit) headline the cast. Sounds strange, but the flick’s loaded with powerhouse talent. …
