We all have to eat, so why not make a commitment to having at least one meal a month with an elder relative?
Home Instead Senior Care, a home-care service company, surveyed 1,000 house- holds and found that about 75 percent eat with senior family members solely for special occasions.
To increase meals with elders, the company is promoting a Sunday Dinner Pledge. For each pledge made through July 31, the company will donate $1 to Meals on Wheels America, up to $20,000.

North Shore market in Top 10
Congratulations to Haleiwa Farmers Market for being included in food52’s “10 of America’s Best Farmers Markets.” Food52 is an online site dedicated to all things cooking.
A travel article on the site notes that the Haleiwa market is “one of Oahu’s Premiere Green Markets,” with vendors using inventive packaging to replace plastic bags, food vendors using bio-compostable plates and utensils, and shoppers being encouraged to bring their own bags.
The market is one of four run by FarmLovers Farmers’ Markets, owned by Pamela Boyar and Annie Suite. The other markets are in Kakaako, Kailua and Pearlridge.
